Scores of artisans & exhibits, art making for kids, special installations and interactive activities coordinated by Pro Arts, the community mural project in collaboration with Oakland Art Gallery and more highlight the 2008 festival!

Art to Purchase

Dozens of handcraft and fine artisans will display their works at Art & Soul with an eclectic mix of jewelry, imported crafts, sculpture, clothing, bath products and much more.

Art to Create

An eight-year Art & Soul tradition continues as budding artists are invited to grab a brush and participate in the community mural project guided by Oakland artist Fred Alvarado.

For the kids, the Family Fun Zone will allow them to create crafts using recycled materials with hands-on activities organized by the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse and the Museum of Children's Art.

Join Susan Wolf as she creates 10' x 10' woven paper pavilions that serve both as works of art and functional shade.

Artist team marksearch invites the public to dig into Project 10,000 Steps to explore their relationship with urban green space and learn about stewardship activities.

Art to View

The Crucible
will be onsite Saturday, August 30, to demonstrate their unique blend of fine and industrial arts.

Calligraphy artist Minette Mangahas and graffiti artist Cody Kennedy have created a series of umbrella and wall hangings that highlight the similarities betwen these two art forms.

Industrial sculptor Daniel Nevers will create large, wall-like sculptures using cinderblocks and tide down straps.
